How to Clean Shark Vacuum Brush Rolls
Before attempting any cleaning process, make sure to unplug the device. Never attempt to clean by keeping it connected to any electrical outlets. Also, take necessary protective accessories like gloves, masks, etc.
If the brush roll fills up, it’ll push the dirt around and won’t pick them up. So, it’s really very important to take out accumulated hairs and debris from the brush roll. Otherwise, the consequence is stated above.
To start with the process, you have to first push the floor nozzle button and release the cleaning head. Next, take a screwdriver and unscrew the brush roll cover. Shark Vacuum uses different types of filters; these are mainly HEPA filter, foam cylinder filter, and felt disc filter. But don’t worry; there’s a common technique for cleaning any of them.
First of all, you have to start with the dust cup first. So, empty all dirt and debris. Then remove the foam, felt disc, or whatever filter your machine has inside. If your device uses a felt disc filter, make sure to use the tab. It’ll help you to remove the filter safely, avoiding damages.
You can use warm soapy water to clean both foams and felt disc; it won’t damage them. Start the cleaning and continue it until the water runs clear. The clean water indicates that all the dirt and debris has been washed away.
But what about the HEPA filters?? Actually, there are two types of HEPA filters, and that’s why I didn’t mix them up. This is because one of these HEPA filters are reusable and easily washable while the other one is not. So, you need to identify which one you’ve got. If you have got a washable HEPA filter, you can rinse it entirely under running water. Make sure to do this carefully until the waters run clear. Once you have complete that, allow it to air dry outside.
In the case of the non-washable HEPA filters, take it outside and tap it lightly against a hard surface. When you notice that no dust is coming out of it, you can use it again. Taping too hard can damage the filter, so keep this in mind.
Typically, air-drying the filters for 24 hours is ideal once after cleaning them. It sometimes also depends on the weather condition, so give them the required time and make sure to reuse them when they’re appropriately dried. Do not use damp or wet filters in your vacuum; it can cause the growth of mold and mildew.
How to Clean Shark Vacuum Dust Cup

When dirt and debris get stuck inside of the dust cup, you’ll notice a strong odor coming out from your vacuum cleaner. This usually happens when you have pets in your house. Pet hairs are mainly responsible for this as they cling inside the dust cup.
You can use soapy water and a sponge to scrub the dust cap properly until it becomes properly clean. If you feel complications to reach the bottom part, you can also use a brush to clear all stubborn dirt and stains away.
After that, you can rinse it and keep it for air dry. If needed, you can use a cloth to make sure it has dried completely. Now, it’s time to reassemble it.
